OEUK Offshore Medical — What It Is and Who Needs It
The OEUK (Offshore Energies UK) medical, formerly known as the OGUK medical, is the standard medical fitness certificate required for workers deploying to UK offshore oil and gas installations, offshore wind platforms, and associated support vessels. It is a mandatory requirement for all offshore personnel and covers a broad range of health assessments including cardiovascular and respiratory function, vision and hearing, spirometry, ECG, and a Chester Step Test or VO2 Max fitness assessment for ERT-designated roles. The certificate is valid for two years and is recognised across UK, Norwegian, and Dutch sectors under the Hardanger Agreement.
GWO Medicals — Global Wind Organisation
The GWO medical framework covers personnel working in the offshore and onshore wind energy sector. GWO medicals are required for workers undertaking GWO training courses including Basic Safety Training (onshore and offshore), Working at Heights, First Aid, Sea Survival, Manual Handling, and Fire Awareness. The G41 Working at Heights medical is also available as a standalone or combined appointment for workers whose role involves regularly working above 2.5 metres with fall protection. We offer all GWO medical types as part of our corporate service.
Our Corporate Service
Our corporate OEUK and GWO medical service is available at our Slough and Southampton clinics and as a nationwide on-site service. For energy sector clients with large workforces, we can mobilise to your office, training facility, or operational base to conduct medicals on-site, keeping your workforce moving without the logistical overhead of multiple individual clinic bookings. We work with operators, tier-1 contractors, and staffing agencies to manage medical scheduling, track certificate expiry dates, and ensure your workforce remains continuously compliant.
Every OEUK medical includes a full clinical physical examination, cardiovascular assessment with blood pressure and pulse, spirometry, resting ECG, audiometry, vision testing including colour vision, urinalysis, shoulder measurement for helicopter evacuation category, and a Chester Step Test where required for ERT roles. GWO medicals are conducted to the current GWO standard and include all components required by the relevant module.
Pricing
Standard corporate OEUK offshore medicals are priced from £130 per worker. OEUK medicals including ECG are available from £180. GWO medicals, NOGEPA medicals, and combined assessments are priced depending on the specific combination required. Bulk booking discounts are available for contracts of ten or more workers per year. Can you track our workforce's certificate expiry dates?
Yes. For corporate clients on a volume contract, we can maintain a record of your workforce’s certificate expiry dates and provide advance notification when renewals are due. This helps you avoid lapsed certificates and last-minute bookings that may delay mobilisation. Please ask us about this service when enquiring.
Can OEUK and GWO medicals be combined in one appointment?
In most cases, yes. Where a worker needs both an OEUK offshore medical certificate and a GWO-compliant assessment, we can combine these into a single appointment. Similarly, NOGEPA and G41 Working at Heights assessments can be combined. Please advise us of all certificates required at the time of booking so we can schedule the appropriate appointment length.
Are your doctors OEUK-approved?
Yes. All OEUK offshore medicals are conducted by our GMC-registered Occupational Health Physician in accordance with the current OEUK medical guidelines. Please contact us to confirm approval status for your specific operational requirements.
Can you come to our site or training facility?
Yes. Our nationwide on-site service is available for corporate clients. We can travel to your operational base, office, or training facility anywhere in the UK to conduct medicals on-site. Please contact us to discuss scheduling and the associated travel fee.
