About the Cayman Islands Visa Medical
The Cayman Islands Visa Medical is required for professionals seeking a work permit in the Cayman Islands, a British Overseas Territory and one of the world’s major financial centres. Work permit applicants must provide a medical certificate demonstrating fitness and freedom from certain infectious diseases as part of the Department of Labour and Pensions application process.
Why Is This Medical Required?
The Cayman Islands Department of Labour and Pensions requires this medical to ensure that all incoming workers are free from communicable diseases and are medically fit to work. As a British Overseas Territory, Cayman Islands documentation requirements are broadly aligned with UK standards.
Eligible Visa and Permit Types
✔ Standard or Short-term Work Permit
✔ Residency Certificate
✔ Key Employee Designation
✔ Dependant Permit
What the Medical Assessment Includes
The Cayman Islands Visa Medical includes a full clinical physical examination, blood tests screening for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, and a full blood count, and urinalysis. Where a Chest X-ray is required, a referral letter will be generated at your appointment so that you can take this to a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The cost of the Chest X-ray is not included in the medical fee and typically ranges from £75 to £90 depending on the provider and location. The required Cayman Islands health declaration or medical certificate will be completed at your appointment.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
✔ Valid passport
✔ Cayman Islands work permit health form if provided by your employer
✔ Passport-sized photographs
✔ GP medical summary or list of current medications
Certificate Turnaround
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all laboratory results and, where required, the Chest X-ray report have been received and confirmed as satisfactory. We will keep you updated throughout.
Pricing and Appointments
The price for this medical is available upon request as it varies depending on the specific investigations required, the visa type, and whether additional tests such as a Chest X-ray or extended blood panel are needed. Please contact us before booking and we will provide you with a clear, transparent quotation. Same-week appointments are available at both our Slough (Berkshire) and Southampton clinics. To request a quotation or book, please call us on 07306852397 or email info@cherriesmedicalclinic.co.uk.

Most standard and short-term work permit applications require a health declaration. Please confirm the specific requirements with your employer or the Cayman Islands Department of Labour and Pensions before booking.
A medical report from an FCDO-registered, GMC-registered doctor is accepted for most Cayman Islands work permit applications. Please confirm specific requirements with your employer if you are unsure.
Yes. Our examining doctor is FCDO-registered, which means he is legally authorised to attest and certify medical documentation for visa and immigration purposes in the United Kingdom. This is a key requirement for many visa applications, as the medical certificate may need to be submitted to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for legalisation (apostille) before it is accepted by the relevant embassy or consulate. You can therefore be confident that any certificate we issue will meet the requirements of the embassy or immigration authority to which it is submitted.
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all relevant investigation results have been received. This includes blood test results from the laboratory and, where applicable, the results of a Chest X-ray (CXR). Where a Chest X-ray is required, we will provide you with a referral letter at your appointment so that you can attend a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The certificate can only be issued once all results have been confirmed as satisfactory. Turnaround times depend on the specific laboratory and radiology provider used. We will keep you informed and updated at every stage of the process and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.
