About the Qatar Visa Medical
The Qatar Visa Medical is a health assessment required for expatriates seeking a Work Residence Permit or long-term stay in the State of Qatar. Most UK-based professionals require a pre-departure medical to satisfy their employer’s HR requirements and to initiate the entry permit process. Qatar has a strict policy regarding certain infectious diseases, and a positive result for any of the screened conditions will generally result in the permit being refused.

What the Medical Assessment Includes
The Qatar Visa Medical includes a full clinical physical examination, blood tests screening for HIV 1 and 2, Hepatitis B surface antigen, Hepatitis C antibody, Syphilis (VDRL or RPR), and a full blood count. For female applicants, a urine pregnancy test is a mandatory requirement and must be recorded on the official medical form. A Chest X-ray is mandatory for Qatar to exclude Tuberculosis — a referral letter will be generated at your appointment so that you can take this to a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The cost of the Chest X-ray is not included in the medical fee and typically ranges from £75 to £90 depending on the provider and location. Urinalysis is also conducted. The employer medical form will be completed and all required documentation issued at your appointment.

Certificate Turnaround
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all laboratory blood test results have been received and the radiologist’s Chest X-ray report has been returned and confirmed as satisfactory. Yes. Our examining doctor is FCDO-registered, which means he is legally authorised to attest and certify medical documentation for visa and immigration purposes in the United Kingdom. This is a key requirement for many visa applications, as the medical certificate may need to be submitted to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for legalisation (apostille) before it is accepted by the relevant embassy or consulate. You can therefore be confident that any certificate we issue will meet the requirements of the embassy or immigration authority to which it is submitted.
How long will it take to receive my final medical certificate?
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all relevant investigation results have been received. This includes blood test results from the laboratory and, where applicable, the results of a Chest X-ray (CXR). Where a Chest X-ray is required, we will provide you with a referral letter at your appointment so that you can attend a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The certificate can only be issued once all results have been confirmed as satisfactory. Turnaround times depend on the specific laboratory and radiology provider used. We will keep you informed and updated at every stage of the process and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.
