About the Papua New Guinea Visa Medical
The Papua New Guinea Visa Medical is required for expatriates applying for a work permit or long-stay visa in Papua New Guinea (PNG). PNG is a significant destination for professionals in the mining, oil and gas, construction, and humanitarian aid sectors, and a comprehensive health assessment is required before a work permit is issued.
Why Is This Medical Required?
The PNG immigration authorities require this medical to confirm that all incoming workers are free from communicable diseases and are medically fit for work in a tropical environment. PNG has a high malaria risk, and depending on your travel and medical history, malaria screening may form part of your pre-departure health assessment.
Eligible Visa and Permit Types
✔ Work Permit
✔ Business Visa for long stays
✔ Dependant Visa
✔ Missionary and Humanitarian Worker Permit
What the Medical Assessment Includes
The Papua New Guinea Visa Medical includes a full clinical physical examination, blood tests screening for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, Malaria (where indicated by history), and a full blood count, and urinalysis. A tropical disease risk assessment is included. Where a Chest X-ray is required, a referral letter will be generated at your appointment so that you can take this to a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The cost of the Chest X-ray is not included in the medical fee and typically ranges from £75 to £90 depending on the provider and location. The PNG immigration health form will be completed and the required certificate issued at your appointment.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
✔ Valid passport
✔ PNG employer or immigration medical form if provided
✔ Passport-sized photographs
✔ GP medical summary including vaccination history and any previous tropical disease history
Certificate Turnaround
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all laboratory results — including any tropical disease screening — and, where required, the Chest X-ray report have been received and confirmed as satisfactory. We will keep you informed at every stage.

PNG has a high malaria risk. Depending on your medical and travel history, malaria screening may be included as part of your pre-departure health assessment.
We recommend discussing your vaccination needs with our doctor at your appointment. Hepatitis A, Typhoid, and malaria prophylaxis are generally advised for PNG.
Yes. Our examining doctor is FCDO-registered, which means he is legally authorised to attest and certify medical documentation for visa and immigration purposes in the United Kingdom. This is a key requirement for many visa applications, as the medical certificate may need to be submitted to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for legalisation (apostille) before it is accepted by the relevant embassy or consulate. You can therefore be confident that any certificate we issue will meet the requirements of the embassy or immigration authority to which it is submitted.
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all relevant investigation results have been received. This includes blood test results from the laboratory and, where applicable, the results of a Chest X-ray (CXR). Where a Chest X-ray is required, we will provide you with a referral letter at your appointment so that you can attend a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The certificate can only be issued once all results have been confirmed as satisfactory. Turnaround times depend on the specific laboratory and radiology provider used. We will keep you informed and updated at every stage of the process and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.

Dr Anwar is exceptionally helpful and professional. In a very short period he provided an appointment , met with my family member and provided a supporting letter to bolster an application for exemption from the Life in The UK test.
