About the Japan Visa Medical
The Japan Visa Medical is required for applicants applying for a long-term visa or Certificate of Eligibility (CoE) for work, study, or residency in Japan. Japan is particularly known for its JET Programme for English teaching, Highly Skilled Professional Visa, and Specified Skilled Worker Visa routes. Certain visa categories require a health certificate as part of the application.
Why Is This Medical Required?
Japan requires this medical to confirm that long-term visa applicants are free from communicable diseases and meet the health standards required for long-term residence. The JET Programme has its own specific health questionnaire and physical examination requirements, and we are experienced in completing the relevant documentation for JET and other Japanese long-stay visa routes.
Eligible Visa and Permit Types
✔ JET Programme (English Teaching)
✔ Highly Skilled Professional Visa
✔ Specified Skilled Worker Visa
✔ Long-Term Resident Visa
✔ Technical Intern Training Visa
What the Medical Assessment Includes
The Japan Visa Medical includes a full clinical physical examination, blood tests screening for HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Syphilis, and a full blood count, and urinalysis. Where a Chest X-ray is required to screen for Tuberculosis, a referral letter will be generated at your appointment so that you can take this to a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The cost of the Chest X-ray is not included in the medical fee and typically ranges from £75 to £90 depending on the provider and location. The Japan visa health form or JET Programme health questionnaire will be completed as required at your appointment.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
✔ Valid passport
✔ Japan visa health form or JET Programme health questionnaire if provided
✔ Passport-sized photographs
✔ GP medical summary or list of current medications
Certificate Turnaround
Your final medical certificate or completed health form will be issued once all laboratory results and, where required, the Chest X-ray report have been received and confirmed as satisfactory. We will keep you informed throughout.

The price for this medical is available upon request as it varies depending on the specific investigations required, the visa type, and whether additional tests such as a Chest X-ray or extended blood panel are needed. Yes. Our examining doctor is FCDO-registered, which means he is legally authorised to attest and certify medical documentation for visa and immigration purposes in the United Kingdom. This is a key requirement for many visa applications, as the medical certificate may need to be submitted to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for legalisation (apostille) before it is accepted by the relevant embassy or consulate. You can therefore be confident that any certificate we issue will meet the requirements of the embassy or immigration authority to which it is submitted.
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all relevant investigation results have been received. This includes blood test results from the laboratory and, where applicable, the results of a Chest X-ray (CXR). Where a Chest X-ray is required, we will provide you with a referral letter at your appointment so that you can attend a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The certificate can only be issued once all results have been confirmed as satisfactory. Turnaround times depend on the specific laboratory and radiology provider used. We will keep you informed and updated at every stage of the process and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.

Dr Anwar is exceptionally helpful and professional. In a very short period he provided an appointment , met with my family member and provided a supporting letter to bolster an application for exemption from the Life in The UK test.
