About the Barbados Visa Medical
The Barbados Visa Medical is required for certain long-term visa applications and work permits in Barbados. As a member of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Barbados requires applicants to demonstrate medical fitness before a work or residency permit is approved. This is particularly relevant for professionals applying under the CARICOM Skilled Nationals scheme or for direct work permit applications.
Why Is This Medical Required?
The Barbados immigration authorities require this medical to confirm that applicants are free from infectious diseases and generally fit for long-term residence. The documentation must be completed in the correct format for submission to the Barbados Immigration Department.
Eligible Visa and Permit Types
✔ Work Permit and Employment Visa
✔ Residence Permit
✔ CARICOM Skilled National Certificate
✔Special Entry and Reside Permit (SERP)
What the Medical Assessment Includes
The Barbados Visa Medical includes a full clinical physical examination, blood tests covering HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and a full blood count, and urinalysis. A Chest X-ray is arranged via referral to an external private radiology provider where required. The required Barbados immigration medical form will be completed or a general medical fitness certificate issued as required.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
✔ Valid passport
✔ Barbados work permit or immigration form if provided by your employer
✔ Passport-sized photographs
✔ GP medical summary or list of current medications
Certificate Turnaround
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all laboratory results and, where required, the Chest X-ray report have been received and confirmed as satisfactory. We will keep you informed throughout the process.
Pricing and Appointments
The price for this medical is available upon request as it varies depending on the specific investigations required, the visa type, and whether additional tests such as a Chest X-ray or extended blood panel are needed. No — the medical is only required for work permit applications, long-stay visas, and certain residency applications. Tourist visitors do not require a medical.
The CARICOM scheme allows nationals of Caribbean Community member states to work freely across the region. Barbados may require a medical as part of the application process for skilled national status.
Yes. Our examining doctor is FCDO-registered, which means he is legally authorised to attest and certify medical documentation for visa and immigration purposes in the United Kingdom. This is a key requirement for many visa applications, as the medical certificate may need to be submitted to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for legalisation (apostille) before it is accepted by the relevant embassy or consulate. You can therefore be confident that any certificate we issue will meet the requirements of the embassy or immigration authority to which it is submitted.
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all relevant investigation results have been received. This includes blood test results from the laboratory and, where applicable, the results of a Chest X-ray (CXR). Where a Chest X-ray is required, we will provide you with a referral letter at your appointment so that you can attend a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The certificate can only be issued once all results have been confirmed as satisfactory. Turnaround times depend on the specific laboratory and radiology provider used. We will keep you informed and updated at every stage of the process and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.

Dr Anwar is exceptionally helpful and professional. In a very short period he provided an appointment , met with my family member and provided a supporting letter to bolster an application for exemption from the Life in The UK test.
