Our occupational health assessments are conveniently performed at our clinics in Slough and Southampton. However, these assessments can also be performed remotely – all we require is access to your NHS App or patient summary record.
What is an NMC Occupational Health Medical Assessment?
This is a type of health check that is typically performed on overseas nurses or midwives who are trying to register themselves with the NMC following adequate completion of any exams and usually with access to their PIN number. This involves a formal review of medical records and potential history-taking to ensure that the employee would be fit with no risk of communicable disease to their patients as they embark on their careers in the UK. We would work towards the Nursing and Midwifery Council requirements.
How does the booking process work?
Firstly ensure that you have access to the NHS App or Patient Summary Record (ideally as a digital file or PDF) for you to email at info@cherriesmedicalclinic.co.uk
Next ensure that you contact us, to ask details for the Doctor & GMC number to ensure that you can add this to the NMC portal.
Following, this the NMC portal would email us with your forms and you should also get a notification that the doctor has been contacted. Next, we would contact you and ask for you to book an appropriate appointment or make the fee of £70.
Once the fee has been paid, your form will be reviewed within 24hrs and you will be informed when the form has been submitted on the NMC portal – but likewise you will also usually receive a notification from the NMC that this has been done.
Who Needs a NMC Occupational Health Medical?
NMC Occupational Health Assessments are typically required by:
- Internationally trained nurses who have recently passed their exam
- Nurses applying for their NMC PIN after completing the exam
- Nurses or midwives seeking employment in roles requiring proof of medical fitness
- Healthcare employers who need proof of fitness for new recruits
What Should I Bring to My Assessment?
- Any relevant hospital letters
- Licence or passport
- List of any medication taken
- NHS app or medical summary
