How do I Obtain the Confined Space Medical?
Our Confined Space Medicals include the Full Safety Critical Medical and Confined Space Questionnaire.
Confined Space Medicals are a statutory requirement under the Confined Space Regulations of 1997 where an assessment is required to identify any health conditions or risk of serious injury in enclosed spaces.
A confined space is a place which is enclosed substantially and where there is risk of exposure to low levels of oxygen and exposure to dust, vapour, fumes or increased hot working conditions. There may be also be a risk of trying to safely escape the enclosed environment i.e. a risk of fire and explosions.
Our Doctor will ensure that your employee is able to meet the necessary health standards to be able to complete his/her job role. Examples of workers can include tunnel boring gangs, wastewater technicians or HS2 tunnel workers etc.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) :
(1) Full Safety Critical Medical including:-
✅ Pre-Health Questionnaire
✅ Examination of vitals (Blood pressure, Heart Rate, Oxygen Saturation,
Temperature, Respiratory rate).
✅ Musculoskeletal assessment
✅ Cardiovascular examination (+/- ECG depending on requirement).
✅ Respiratory examination including lung spirometry and peak flow assessment
✅ Audiology assessment
✅ Urinalysis and urine drug screening check
✅ Skin survey which is optional (depending on nature of job)
(2) Confined Space Questionnaire including Hand Dypanometry
✅ Photo ID (Work ID, drivers license or passport)
✅ A list of current medications.
✅ Details of any ongoing conditions.
✅ Prescription glasses.
Given the vast majority of assessments that would need to be covered including the safety critical medical form, working at heights questionnaire and the medical examination with hand dynamometry; you can expect this to last up to 1 hour. Given that you are medically fit, we will aim to provide you with the certificate of fitness before you leave the medical clinic same day.
