Certified Cast & Crew Insurance Medicals
Before filming begins, most production insurers ask key cast and crew members to have a medical examination. Cherries Medical Clinic carries out these insurance medicals and completes your insurer’s form, so your production can secure cover without delay.
Your medical is carried out by Dr Mohammed Omer Anwar (MBBS, MRCGP, DOccMed), an occupational health physician who assesses fitness for safety-critical and physically demanding work every week. We understand production schedules, which is why we offer Sunday appointments, quick turnaround and visits to your set or production office.
Who needs a cast and crew insurance medical?
Production insurers usually ask for a medical for anyone whose illness or injury could delay or stop filming.
This commonly includes:
• Lead and principal actors
• Directors, producers and key heads of department
• Stunt performers and anyone doing physically demanding scenes
• Older cast members, or anyone with a pre-existing medical condition
• Cast and crew travelling abroad or working on remote locations
Why do insurers ask for a medical?
A production insurer covers the cost of delays or cancellation if a key person becomes unwell. The medical gives the insurer an independent record of each person’s health and any existing conditions before filming starts, so the production can be insured on the right terms.
What does the medical include?
• A review of your medical history, current medicines and any existing conditions
• Blood pressure, heart rate, height and weight
• Physical examination, including heart, lungs and general health
• Urine dipstick test
• Completion and signing of your insurer’s medical form
Additional tests, if your insurer asks for them
• 12-lead ECG, often requested for older or lead cast members: £60
• Urine drug and alcohol screen, often requested for stunt work or productions using heavy equipment: £55
• Blood tests: quoted on request
Please check your insurer’s form before booking so we can carry out everything it needs in one appointment.
Insurance forms we complete
We complete cast and crew medical forms from all the major film and TV production insurers, as well as bespoke forms supplied by your production company. Please bring a printed copy of your form with your personal details already filled in, or email it to us before your appointment at info@cherriesmedicalclinic.co.uk.
For production companies
Group bookings: we can see several cast and crew members in back-to-back appointments at either clinic. Email us your insurer’s form and the number of people needing a medical, and we will send you a quote.
On-set and production office visits: for larger crews, the doctor can come to your set, studio or production office. Travel is charged at £0.30 per mile, including the return journey.
Confidentiality: we treat every medical in strict confidence. With the individual’s consent, we share only what the insurer’s form requires. We can offer private appointment times for high-profile talent.
Invoicing: we can invoice the production company directly

Dr Anwar is exceptionally helpful and professional. In a very short period he provided an appointment , met with my family member and provided a supporting letter to bolster an application for exemption from the Life in The UK test. I will be recommending Cherries Medical in the futurePosted on Google![]()
