Keeping Your Asbestos Workforce Compliant — Efficiently and
Affordably
If your business employs workers who carry out licensed or notifiable non-licensed work with asbestos, you have a legal duty under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 to ensure they undergo regular medical surveillance by an HSE-appointed doctor. Cherries Medical Clinic provides a dedicated corporate asbestos medical service for contractors, construction firms, demolition companies, and facilities management businesses across the UK. We offer bulk booking rates, nationwide on-site visits to your workplace or site, and fast turnaround to keep your workforce compliant and your projects on schedule.
What the Law Requires
The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 (CAR 2012) places a clear legal obligation on employers. Workers engaged in licensed asbestos work must undergo medical surveillance by an HSE-appointed doctor before commencing such work and at least every two years thereafter. Workers engaged in notifiable non-licensed work must also undergo medical surveillance, with review every three years. Failure to comply can result in HSE enforcement action, improvement or prohibition notices, and prosecution. Our corporate service is designed to make compliance straightforward — we manage the scheduling, the paperwork, and the documentation so that your HR and health and safety teams have everything they need.
Our Corporate Service
Our corporate asbestos medical service is available at both our Slough (Berkshire) and Southampton clinics, and as a nationwide on-site service where our clinician travels to your site or workplace to conduct the medicals. The on-site option is particularly valuable for larger construction sites, demolition projects, or facilities management contracts where moving large numbers of workers to a clinic would be disruptive and costly.
Every asbestos medical includes a detailed occupational and respiratory history questionnaire covering the worker’s full history of asbestos exposure, past and current symptoms, and smoking history. A clinical examination of the cardiovascular and respiratory system is conducted, with specific attention to the lungs, chest wall, and any signs of asbestos-related disease. Spirometry is performed to assess lung function, and the results are compared to previous records where available to identify any deterioration over time. Where there is clinical concern, a referral for chest imaging or specialist respiratory review is arranged. The appropriate certificate of medical examination is issued — green for licensed work, standard for non-licensed — and a copy is provided to both the worker and the employer for their health records.
Pricing
Corporate asbestos medicals are priced from £120 per worker for non-licensed medicals and £130 per worker for licensed medicals, reflecting our standard clinic rates. For bulk bookings of ten or more workers, discounted corporate rates are available. On-site visits are charged at the per-worker rate plus a travel and mobilisation fee, which varies by location. Please contact us for a corporate quotation and we will provide a clear, all-inclusive fee before you commit.

Licensed asbestos medicals are required for workers carrying out higher-risk asbestos work that requires an HSE licence — such as removal of sprayed coatings, asbestos insulation, and pipe lagging. These medicals are conducted by an HSE-appointed doctor and result in a green certificate. The HSE maintains a register of all licensed asbestos workers. Non-licensed (or notifiable non-licensed) medicals are required for lower-risk work such as maintenance, painting, or short-term removal of asbestos cement or insulation board in good condition. These are conducted by a GMC-registered doctor and result in a standard white certificate.
Licensed asbestos work requires medical surveillance at least every two years. Notifiable non-licensed work requires surveillance at least every three years. The examining doctor may recommend a shorter interval where clinically indicated. Both employer and worker receive a copy of the certificate for their records.
Yes. Our on-site service is available nationally. We will travel to your construction site, depot, or office to conduct medicals on-site, minimising disruption to your workforce and your programme. Please contact us to discuss on-site scheduling and travel arrangements.
Where the examination reveals clinical concern — such as reduced lung function, abnormal findings on respiratory examination, or symptoms that may indicate early asbestos-related disease — we will advise you and the worker on next steps. This may include referral for chest imaging, a referral to a specialist respiratory physician, or a recommendation to review the worker’s exposure controls. The worker retains full confidentiality over their clinical results.
