About the Saudi Arabia Visa Medical
The Saudi Arabia Visa Medical is a mandatory health assessment required for anyone applying for an Employment Visa or Residency Permit (Iqama) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a
prerequisite for the visa to be issued by the Saudi Embassy in London and is designed to ensure that applicants are free from infectious and chronic diseases before entering the Kingdom for long term employment or residence.
Why Is This Medical Required?
Saudi government requires this medical to protect public health in the Kingdom by ensuring that all incoming workers and residents have been screened for a range of communicable and
chronic conditions. For most Work and Residency Visa applicants, this process is now managed through the Wafid portal (formerly GAMCA), and your Wafid or GAMCA registration reference
should be available before your appointment. Failure to complete the required medical will result in the visa not being issued.
Eligible Visa and Permit Types
✔ Work and Employment Visa (Z Visa)
✔ Residency Permit (Iqama)
✔ Government Sector Employment Visa
✔ Family Joiner and Dependent Visas
What the Medical Assessment Includes
The Saudi Arabia Visa Medical is a comprehensive assessment. It begins with a full clinical physical examination. The assessment includes an extensive blood panel screening for HIV, Hepatitis B surface antigen, Hepatitis C antibody, Syphilis (VDRL or RPR), and a full blood count. A urine sample is taken and tested as standard. A Chest X-ray is required to exclude Tuberculosis — if this is needed, a referral letter will be generated at your appointment so that you can take this to a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The cost of the Chest X-ray is not included in the medical fee and typically ranges from £75 to £90 depending on the provider and location. Where your travel or medical history indicates a risk, tropical disease screening including Malaria and Bilharzia may also be included. All required Saudi medical documentation including your official medical report form will be completed at your appointment.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
✔ Valid passport
✔ Your official Saudi Medical Form (Wafid or GAMCA registration number if applicable)
✔ One to two passport-sized photographs
✔ A GP medical summary or list of current medications
Certificate Turnaround
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all laboratory blood test results have been received and, where a Chest X-ray was required, once the radiologist’s report has been returned and confirmed as satisfactory. Certificate issuance is subject to all results being satisfactory. As the Saudi medical involves specialist laboratory screening including tropical disease panels, turnaround times vary depending on the laboratory used, but we will keep you informed at every stage and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.
Pricing and Appointments
The price for this medical is available upon request as it varies depending on the specific investigations required, the visa type, and whether additional tests such as a Chest X-ray or extended blood panel are needed. Please contact us before booking and we will provide you with a clear, transparent quotation. Same-week appointments are available at both our Slough (Berkshire) and Southampton clinics. To request a quotation or book, please call us on 07306852397 or email info@cherriesmedicalclinic.co.uk.

The Saudi Arabia Visa Medical is mandatory for all Work and Employment Visas (Z Visa) and Residency Permits (Iqama). It is not required for the Saudi Tourist eVisa or the Electronic Visa Waiver.
The Saudi Arabia medical report is typically valid for 60 days from the date of issue. We recommend planning your appointment carefully relative to your intended submission date to the Saudi Embassy.
For most work and residency visa applications, you must register via the Wafid portal before booking. Please have your Wafid registration reference available and bring it to your appointment.
Yes — most Saudi work and residency visa applications require the medical report to be apostilled by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) before it is submitted to the Saudi Embassy. As our doctor is FCDO-registered, all certificates we issue can be submitted for FCDO legalisation without difficulty.
Yes. Our examining doctor is FCDO-registered, which means he is legally authorised to attest and certify medical documentation for visa and immigration purposes in the United Kingdom. This is a key requirement for many visa applications, as the medical certificate may need to be submitted to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) for legalisation (apostille) before it is accepted by the relevant embassy or consulate. You can therefore be confident that any certificate we issue will meet the requirements of the embassy or immigration authority to which it is submitted.
Your final medical certificate will be issued once all relevant investigation results have been received. This includes blood test results from the laboratory and, where applicable, the results of a Chest X-ray (CXR). Where a Chest X-ray is required, we will provide you with a referral letter at your appointment so that you can attend a private radiology department at a private hospital of your choice. The certificate can only be issued once all results have been confirmed as satisfactory. Turnaround times depend on the specific laboratory and radiology provider used. We will keep you informed and updated at every stage of the process and aim to issue your certificate as promptly as possible once all results are to hand.

Dr Anwar is exceptionally helpful and professional. In a very short period he provided an appointment , met with my family member and provided a supporting letter to bolster an application for exemption from the Life in The UK test.
