Why is a medical required for the PCV LGV License?
The PCV LGV Medical requires completion of the D4 Medical Form. This is a statutory requirement from the DVLA for all those who are driving heavy vehicles with the various category licenses ranging between C and D license (usually dependent on the weight of the vehicle). All of our medical are strictly assessed to Group II DVLA standards. However, our friendly doctor will help guide you through the whole process from A-Z to ensure that you have a seamless journey to and from our clinic.
The PCV/LGV DVLA Appointment will last approximately 15 – 20 minutes and involves the doctor assessing your height, weight, blood pressure and also your visual acuity by getting you to read letters from an eye chart. Following this, the doctor will ask a thorough set of questions and review any relevant medical history, GP records or hospital records that might be relevant. Again, medical records are optional but should there be a condition that is being dealt with extensively between your GP and the hospital, then it is highly recommended to bring printout letters or notes.
You would need the medical at the following intervals:-
✅ New-time applicant when applying for Bus License.
✅ Every 5 years starting from your 45th birthday up until the age of 65 years old.
✅ Every year from the age of 65 years old onwards.
